Taking quality to next level
A family story
It all started generations earlier, when people used to build their own houses. My great-grandfathers lived in Eastern Europe, mainly Poland and Ukraine. The climate called for houses that would give superb protection from cold, heat and rainfall. The building skills were passed on from fathers to sons.
Following the turmoil of two world wars my grandfather’s family fled to Asian country Kyrgyzstan. Living conditions there were harsh, and my father moved to Kazakhstan in search of better life. He graduated as an engineer and worked on huge projects at power plants.
He rebuilt his mother’s house, step by step giving me first lessons in construction and renovation. Next we remodeled our country house together. Vast knowledge of my father combined with practical skills formed the foundation for my future potential. He did plumbing and electrical, tiling and cabinets, painting and windows, and he taught me.
When I turned 16, my parents moved to St Petersburg, Russia, to give me proper education. I graduated from State University as Business Manager and worked in several construction companies. There I learned safety codes, top-notch technologies and modern tools and materials.
I researched how innovations from Europe come to Russia for testing and how quickly they are available as cheap copies from neighboring China. Russian construction market is truly unique, combining advanced technologies, climate challenges, skilled workers, and tight budgets.
By the time my son was born I was already a remodeling professional rather than office employee. I was self-employed as expert plumber, electrician and installer. With 2 hours drive to Europe, I had access to best equipment and materials, as well as exhibitions and training sessions.
When my second son turned 1, I finished rebuilding a 3-story townhouse that I had bought as unfinished construction. No stairs, no room partitions, only walls and roof. With help of a handyman on preparation stage, I nailed this project in impossible 6 months.
I did new electrical, plumbing, tile and wood flooring, erected drywall, painted walls, glued wallpaper, designed stairs from scratch, installed kitchen and bathroom. On New Year’s Eve my family moved in a home, where everything was perfectly suited for us. Design was done by my talented wife Sofia.
After moving to US I continued to work in remodeling. First acquiring CA Plumber’s license and then General Contractor’s, I’m happy to continue family story. I love improving spaces with my hands and take pride in doing a great job every time. Lastly, I always keep learning.
